The purpose of this site design was a rebrand for an outdoor equipment company seeking to emphasize its image as smaller retailer offering quality merchandise at affordable prices. After researching the industry standard for designs of a similar type, this responsive website mockup features an image carousel to highlight features and promotions, modals to add interactivity to the About page, an e-commerce layout for the online storefront, JavaScript form validation on the Contact page, and an interactive map on the Locations page. Filters have been applied to many of the images to give them a congruent look and warmer feel to go with the earth tones in the style guide. The concept informing this design was one of emphasizing the company’s focus on quality product design as part of their ethos of sustainability, by relying heavily on images of people in nature to tell the story.

Intended to match the print materials designed for the same Pasta Amore brand, this website originally called for a very simplistic unresponsive design. It has since been rebuilt on a responsive grid, with the ability to provide the same quality user experience on a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone. This design is included to showcase the ability of the designer to upgrade older web solutions for clients who wish to revitalize their web presence. The same flourishes are carried over from the print elements, as well employing guidance from the brand style documentation to inform a contemporary minimalist site design that looks sleek but still retains the look and feel of the printed designs. Elements such as the menu and the table tent have been carried over to this design but optimized more ideally for a web environment.

These eclectic mini-illustrations were drawn originally as objects to be used in an infographic created in Adobe Animate about some of the lesser-known cryptids or mythical animals of folk legend rumored to inhabit areas of the United States. The infographic provided information on each subject’s physical attributes, records of historical sightings and possible scientific explanations for the mythology surrounding them. Drawn in Procreate, these are provided to give a thematic sense of the final animation project, which will be itself uploaded soon once it has been optimized around the recently revamped characters. These were fun little creatures to draw, and they do a good job of showing the capability of the designer to generate scalable images that can be easily incorporated into JavaScript animations and similar interactive website elements.

This sampling of social media assets was created for the Alaska Small Business Development Center's BuyAlaska campaign and released on their channels November 2020 - January 2021. Using both public domain images and those provided by the client as well as their ad copy, these were created in Canva to help build the BuyAlaska brand, which exists to promote local consumption of products and services from small businesses within the state by its residents. There were several types of themed posts built on templates the designer helped to refine, and they were released on a nearly daily basis. This project was very useful in both learning how to support a brand’s social media presence strategically and in gaining practice generating high-quality assets at a relatively fast pace. It was a lot of fun and proved to be a win-win scenario for both the client and designer in terms of experience gained and value provided.

The purpose of this project was to generate an upgraded virtual user solution for an existing environmental advocacy nonprofit’s website that was seen as needing improvement in its engagement with its target audience of concerned citizens in the region it serves. These low-fidelity wireframes and the resultant high-fidelity mockups both created in Adobe XD represent the physical skeleton upon which an UX design is iteratively built. Along with the preliminary assessment of the site, research into the needs of the users including user profiles, testing scenarios, and creation of a design brief, as well as testing and defense of the final design solution, they are part of an entire package that is as much a service as a product. These wireframes show how a client’s needs can be met by working cooperatively with the designer to create a design solution that is not merely tailored to the client’s specifications but the actual determined needs of their stakeholders.
